Last evening, I was talking to a friend (consultant) who has a project that is coming to an end and he was lamenting the fact that although there are a lot of IT jobs (especially where I live) there's not many good companies to work for.  He likes to travel and loves to take projects which allow him to move throughout the US and would love to do work outside of the country, but again, his concern is what company has that kind of US and Global reach.  I said to him, uh...you might want to consider Microsoft.

Microsoft has a lot, and I mean A LOT of open positions, all over the world: The US, Japan, India, Latin America, Asia Pacific and China.  I know from personal experience that our HR/Recruiting professionals try really hard to fill the positions, but every year that seems to be an uphill battle, since there is a shortage of IT professionals to fill those jobs.

Now, let my say, as someone who went through the interview process: Getting into Microsoft (especially in a technical position) is no "cake walk," but you'll never know if you can get in, unless you try.  I know people who tried a couple of times before getting in!  Oh, and please don't send me your resume, I am not the guy with the "juice" to get you in!  Smile  The people that I know personally and would recommend, have to go through the same process as everyone else.

Anyway, if you are interested in working for Microsoft, or just curious about the jobs we have in your area or the part of the world where you whish you could live, you might want to check out the link below.  Also, don't forget to setup a Job Agent to periodically inform you of new job openings, it cost you nothing but could be invaluable should your dream job open up.

Go to the main page and choose your desired country and the web site will walk you through the rest:

If they ask you how you found out about the job, tell them Robert sent you.  Now, there's about 500 Robert's in the company, so let them try to figure out which! Wink

Good luck, and if you get hired on, send me an email from your Microsoft email account!
