If you are like me and have a need to "zoom in/out" on your screen, then you will LOVE this little utility by Microsoft, oh, and it's FREE!  In my case, I do a lot of demonstrations and videos, and sometimes have the need to zoom in on areas of the screen, to allow people to see aspects of the screen at a lower resolution than what I am working in (think being able to scroll in @ the equivalent of 640x800 and back out again to 1200x1024 or higher) without having to physically change my screen settings.  This tool doesn't actually change the screen resolution, but with it you can use your Scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in/out to higher/lower resolution views of a monitor.  Oh, and works on multiple monitor setups as well.

(Sample of my zooming in on this post in my Blogging Editor)

Here's the description from the product page:

ZoomIt is screen zoom and annotation tool for technical presentations that include application demonstrations. ZoomIt runs unobtrusively in the tray and activates with customizable hotkeys to zoom in on an area of the screen, move around while zoomed, and draw on the zoomed image. I wrote ZoomIt to fit my specific needs and use it in all my presentations.

ZoomIt works on all versions of Windows and you can use pen input for ZoomIt drawing on tablet PCs.
