Folks, I am happy to see that the updated version of Windows Search has released.  I was running an internal beta version of it for a while, and I found it to be much superior to the version that gets initially installed with Windows.  I would recommend that everyone running Windows XP and Vista (32bit and 64bit) install it at your earliest opportunity.

WS4 lets you perform an instant search of your computer. WS4 helps you find and preview documents, e-mail messages, music files, photos, and other items on the computer. Please refer to the Knowledge base article KB940157 for a full description of the technology.


Note: for XP Users The WS4 installation process automatically upgrades Windows Desktop Search (WDS) 2.6 or later versions of Windows Search technologies. Windows XP users who have an earlier version than WDS 2.6 installed, use the Add or Remove Programs tool in the Control Panel to remove the earlier version before installing WS4.

Note for Vista Users: This download is for Microsoft Windows Vista (x86/x64) Service Pack 1 or higher and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 only.
